Die am 25. November 1923 eröffnete Bahnstrecke feiert Jubiläum. Aus diesem Anlass durfte ich die dazugehörige Sondermarke gestalten. Sie zeigt die «Centovallina» mit einem weiteren Shootingstar: der Stahlbrücke bei Intragna, einem der meistfotografierten Motive der Bahnlinie.

Das Motiv mit Postkarten-Charakter ist von einer goldenen Schrift umrahmt, die der Festlichkeit des Jubiläums Ausdruck verleiht. Der Textfluss, der die Briefmarke umrandet, sorgt für eine kontinuierliche Leseart und bildet somit eine in sich geschlossene Strecke – als abstraktes Symbol für eine Zugstrecke. Das Design im Vintage-Stil soll wiederum an die Gründungszeiten erinnern, auf die im Jubiläumsjahr zurückgeblickt wird, und nostalgische Gefühle wecken.

The railway line that opened on November 25, 1923, is celebrating its anniversary. To mark this occasion, I had the privilege of creating a special commemorative stamp. This stamp features the ‚Centovallina‘ train along with another iconic landmark, the steel bridge in Intragna, one of the most photographed spots along the railway route.

The design of the stamp has a postcard-like quality, surrounded by golden lettering that adds a touch of festivity to the anniversary celebration. The text encircling the stamp creates a continuous reading experience, symbolizing the journey along the railway route. The vintage-style design aims to evoke the nostalgia of the railway’s founding era, allowing us to reflect on the history of this railway as we celebrate its anniversary.
